Immigration Map Reflection

“Being able to work on this knowledge map has been a tremendous learning experience for me. I’ve had a lot of experience in doing infographics, but the dimensionality of this project brought a different dynamic to the sort of static work that we’ve done thus far for our sophomore studio. I was pleased to be challenged on this project and I know that were it not for the tough deadlines, pinups, and process crits, I would not have had nearly the same final project. The opportunities afforded to me through this process have been beyond beneficial.

In looking at the ways I can branch off from Brian’s personal data, I can feel really confident that venturing into exploring the culture of new orleans and how it has been affected by hurricane katrina would be a subject able to tap into a large audience that spans ages, genders, and races.

“Brian Battistella is the owner of Battistella’s an awesome new restaurant in downtown Raleigh. His cooking is not only amazing, but his take on New Orleans cuisine as a celebration of culinary culture is something that just has to be experienced. The atmosphere in the restaurant is something out of this world, moreover something right out of the French Quarter, and I tried to capture that to the best of my ability in this short video. His passion for cooking great food is as vibrant and colorful as the dishes he serves.”
